Norelco
70mm-35mm projectors that was used in
Cinema East
, a large, single screen theater once located in the Columbus (Ohio) suburb of Whitehall.
This photo was taken in 1968, three years after the theater opened.
In its heyday
Cinema East
was a favorite venue for 70mm screenings of blockbuster movies such as
The Empire Strikes
Back
,
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
, and
Alien
.
It ran its last movie on January 7, 1990.
A Social Security district office now occupies its former site.
Cinema East
’s
Norelco
projectors could project both 70mm and 35mm films.  We have no idea of what became of them after the theater closed.
This slide comes from a non-smoking household and was properly stored over the years. We have not attempted to clean up or enhance the image so
